Alcatel Web Touch Easy

This is a hybrid terminal designed to access both the Minitel (Teletel) network and the Internet. This model is equipped with a pointing stick, but others used a trackpad. The web browser it used was HotJava, developed by JavaSoft (part of Sun Microsystems) in Cupertino. While this model is a production model, it was never widely commercialized. The terminal was set to use Wanadoo as its ISP. Wanadoo was the ISP brand for France Telecom, the sole Minitel access provider. The telecom regulator (ARCEP) blocked the distribution of these terminals based on concerns that Wanadoo would capture Minitel clients and gain an unfair advantage over independent ISPs.
